Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa slammed Commission on Human Rights (CHR) probe in the death of alleged Abu Sayaff member Abu Saad.

Abu Saad supposedly tried to escape from the authorities and was shot in the forehead while running away from them.

Dela Rosa said that if the CHR wanted to probe if there’s a foul play in the death of Abu Saad, the commission must also probe the Abu Sayaff for beheading their victims.

“Sabihan mo yung CHR, huwag lang mag-limit dito sa side natin…Bakit pinuputulan ng ulo ng mga Abu Sayyaf yung biktima nila? Isama sa imbestigasyon nila,” he said.

The Abu Sayaff was known for kidnappings and beheading their victims if the ransom that their demanded was not given.

Dela Rosa also blasted CHR after they discovered hidden jail cell in a police station in Tondo, Manila.

He asked why the CHR conducted the surprise visits to stations only during the ASEAN summit.

Bato questioned the timing of the surprise visit and he said that CHR must visit every police stations everyday.

Religiously tracking down all possible documented speeches of President Rodrigo Duterte, a certain netizen expressed his heartfelt support to a president whom he likens to “listening to an older brother or a father in a convenient, less formal and friendly manner.”

Chris Malx who runs his own Facebook page where he freely expresses his thoughts on politics and other interests issued a statement where he appreciates Duterte’s manner of speaking and what he communicates to the people.

Malx noted how “The up and downs of his speeches were balanced by a bold, striking and future-worth-qoutations statement of his principles, ideals and plans for the Philippines.”

Despite admitting that he initially had difficulty in understanding Duterte’s “roller coaster speech[es]” that are full of unfinished sentences and expletives, Malx realized that it was a show of Duterte’s sincerity.

“What is amazing with this old man is his ability to express a spontaneous, non-scripted speech for long hours without indication of tiredness. And because it's not scripted, you can really feel the emotions; decisiveness, honest, fatherly-love, patriotism of a true leader and a visionary,” Malx said.

The netizen noted that it takes intelligence to listen past the cuss words and understand the context of Duterte’s statements.

“The context of his statements is so easy to understand if you know the big picture of his leadership style,” Malx said.

The spontaneity of Duterte’s talks made Malx perceive him as “transparent and true to himself” which, he asserts, “is a characteristic that only few leaders possess.”

Malx concluded that when others who label themselves as “decent” call out the likes of Malx as a Dutertard, one should only be “honored” because one is labelled after one’s beliefs in the “integrity” of the current government.

In his full post on Facebook, Malx said,

*Why Dutertards are the Best Political Supporters*

By Chris Malx

When I first heard of Duterte’s campaign speeches a year ago, I felt like I was listening to a roller coaster speech. It was not structured, some of the words were vauge, and there were counts of unfinished sentences. I really had a hard time listening to him.

But as he continued, it became more and more interesting to me as it was like listening to an older brother or a father in a convenient, less formal and friendly manner. The up and downs of his speeches were balanced by a bold, striking and future-worth-qoutations statement of his principles, ideals and plans for the Philippines. His pragmatic statements made me think that this man is not just an ordinary politician. He has an excellent sense of humour and an undiminished old man’s wisdom.

From then on, I never stopped watching him online. I watched all his speeches wherever he went, presidential debates, SONA, proclamation speech, army camp visits, project openings, visiting wounded or lost soldiers, press conferences, departure speeches, arrival speeches, ambush interviews, courtesy calls, Filipino community meetings abroad, bilateral talks, welcome ceremonies, invitational speeches and more. I did search “Duterte” in internet everyday to see what is the latest, and watched all the facebook lives from different tv networks and made it a habit to watch these after my day’s work.

I was also looking forward to hear him speak. I always wanted to know what's going on with his leadership and his government affairs here and abroad.

What is amazing with this old man is his ability to express a spontaneous, non-scripted speech for long hours without indication of tiredness. And because it's not scripted, you can really feel the emotions; decisiveness, honest, fatherly-love, patriotism of a true leader and a visionary.

Listening to him is like being a student of life, picking up pieces of wisdom from his words. His words are empowering and inspiring and will really make us proud in being a Filipino.

Despite of his use of expletives from time to time, it takes an intelligent mind to decipher the source of his emotions. The context of his statements is so easy to understand if you know the big picture of his leadership style. As far as I am concerned, it did not diminish my respect for him as I am just seeing a transparent and true to himself man. And I believe there is no better leader than a leader who is true to himself. A man who is a social genius, who can engage and deal with almost all strata of local and international societies without a sweat. And this is a characteristic that only few leaders possess.

As we were labelled "Dutertards" by some who declared themselves as decent, this reference doesn’t come as an insult to me at all. As a matter of fact, if somebody called me a Dutertard, I feel honored for standing up to my own belief.

And this is what makes the Dutertards the best political supporters. We stand and continue to stand to what we believe. We are not distracted by black political propaganda because we know the integrity of the government we are now supporting. We tirelessly defend the war on drugs as we know the real statistics, the real source of this problem, and the objective of this war which is to stabilize the peace and order of the country and to preserve the quality of life for all Filipinos. We are not discouraged by the negative local and international news about our our country and government because we know the real situation of our country and we strongly trust and believe our authorities. We support the Duterte government because we know, deep in our hearts, the passion of our leader to change our country into a better place to live for all Filipinos. And because of all of these, Dutertards will never be divided, but rather we silently multiply.

A lawyer and former dean of Ateneo de Manila University's School of Government on Thursday defended the appointment of blogger Mocha Uson as assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), noting that she is excellent in social media work that can benefit President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Kay Mocha Uson, sang ayon ako doon kasi... Sa totoo lang magaling siya sa social media and talagang magagamit niya yung social media sa agenda ng Presidente," Atty. Antonio "Tony" La Viña said in an in interview on GMA News' "Hirit ni Mareng Winnie."

"Yung position na yan, maraming nagsasabi na ayaw kong magbayad ng sweldo niya. Sa totoo lang yung position na yan is specifically for the President kasi talagang spokesperson siya ng President sa social media. Talagang hindi siya magse-serve sa atin na ordinary citizen. The Communications Office serves at the pleasure of the President, para sa agenda ng President," La Viña added.

Duterte appointed Uson to the position on May 8, prompting her to quit as a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Her appointment, however, drew criticisms from Netizens.

Mocha Uson's appointment is a disservice to everyone who actually had to study and work hard to learn the whole discipline of communication.

Communicators did not study countless comm theories and took all kinds of writing classes only for a Mocha Uson to land a job in the PCOO

Her task, Uson said, is to bridge the communication gap between ordinary Filipinos and the government and combat fake news through social media.

"Ang ating pong tututukan ay ang mailapit ang mga ordinaryong Pilipino sa pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng social media, at ma-idiretso ang TAMANG BALITA sa ating kababayan...," Uson said in a post on her Facebook page, Mocha Uson Blog.

La Viña noted that while Uson had "done a lot of bad speech" in her social media posts, Filipinos can now "officially contest" what she says.

"Mas maganda na official na siya, kasi you can contest her officially and make her accountable," he said.

Amid criticisms, Duterte on Wednesday said "there's nothing wrong" with his appointment of Uson.

"She's bright. She's articulate ... And you can listen to her. You can debate with her. Tingnan mo ‘yung Facebook and she can have a very structured mind. So what’s the problem?" the President said.

Duterte also defended Uson's past job: "And if it is just a matter of dancing, she was not dancing naked. She was with me during the campaign. A little bit sexier than the others. But that does not prevent anybody to deprive her of the honors that she deserves. It’s a matter of intellect.”

“Eh ‘yung pagsasayaw niya eh hanapbuhay ‘yan eh. That's hanapbuhay. There's no law which says that if you expose half of your body with a shorts and a bra, you are disqualified from being the President of the Philippines.”

Former President Benigno Aquino III's dialogue with students and guests of Columbia University in New York got interrupted twice when youth activists stood up to protest his alleged inaction on impunity in the Philippines, and the supposed corruption of aid for Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) victims.

Activists from Bayan USA, Anakbayan, and Gabriela cut the Noynoy short as he was answering questions on media killings in the Philippines at the university's World Leaders Forum.

A Roman Catholic nun stands accused of helping five priests sexually abuse deaf children.
Kosaka Kumiko, 42, allegedly helped the priests cover up anal and vaginal rapes, fondling and oral sex at the institution for deaf students in Argentina.

The abuse allegedly took place in the bathrooms, dorms, garden and a basement at the school in Lujan de Cuyo, a city about 620 miles northwest of Buenos Aires.

Authorities began investigating Kumiko when a former student claimed she made her wear a nappy to cover up bleeding after she was raped.

At least 24 children have come forward to report abuse at the school.

Children said priests Nicola Corradi and the Rev. Horacio Corbacho repeatedly raped them by an image of the Virgin Mary inside the small school chapel.

Nobody else would have heard their cries because the other children at the school were deaf.

Abuse by priests is alleged to have taken place where children went to confession as well as elsewhere in the grounds.

‘They always said it was a game: ‘Let’s go play, let’s go play’ and they would take us to the girls’ bathroom,’ said one of the women who claims that she was abused at the school in Argentina.

Five priests were previously arrested in late November by police who raided the school and found porn magazines and about $34,000 in Corradi’s room.

This week Kumiko, who is originally from Japan but has Argentine citizenship, was arrested and charged over the allegations she helped them.

She also stands accused of physically abusing students in her care.

Authorities in Argentina say she had been on the run for about a month before turning herself in.

Local media showed the nun in handcuffs and wearing her habit and a bullet-proof vest as she was escorted by police to a court hearing.
Kumiko denied any wrongdoing during the eight-hour hearing on Thursday.

Authorities say that she lived at the Provolo Institute for children with hearing problems from 2004 until 2012.

She was first investigated when a former student accused of making her wear a nappy to cover up a hemorrhage after she was allegedly raped by priest Horacio Corbacho.

Corbacho, fellow priest Nicola Corradi and three other men were arrested last year after they were charged with sexually abusing at least two dozen students at the Provolo Institute.
They are being held at a jail in Mendoza and have not spoken publicly since the arrest.
If found guilty, the accused face 10 to 50 years in prison.

Corradi had earlier been accused in Italy of abusing students at the Provolo Institute in Verona, a notorious school for the deaf where hundreds of children are believed to have been sexually assaulted over the years by two dozen priests and religious brothers.
Advocates for clerical sex abuse have expressed anger that Corradi wasn’t sanctioned by the Vatican and allegedly went on to abuse children in Pope Francis’ native Argentina.
A Vatican investigative commission recently visited Mendoza to learn more about the case against the priests.

MANILA, Philippines – Following Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s revival of an old Supreme Court ruling detailing her confinement in a drug rehabilitation center when she was still a minor, former environment secretary Gina Lopez said she was committed there by her parents to separate her from a socio-religious group she had joined.

“What they did finally is they decided to just forcibly get me out from there and put me with Fr. Bob Garon in the drug abuse rehabilitation center. Not because I took drugs but because they wanted me out”, GMA News quoted her as saying.

Lopez also blasted Lacson for bringing up her past and dared him to argue with her on principles.

“I don’t take alcohol, I don’t smoke. For him to accuse me of something which happened 40 years ago and to label me on something shows that he’s really going below the belt,” she said. “If you want to argue with me, argue with me on principles. Argue with me on the truth. Don’t bring up mud just to bring up mud.”

In his explanation of his no-vote against Lopez which he said was necessary because of President Rodrigo Duterte’s earlier insinuation that they were paid by the mining industry, Lacson brought up her confinement and said she may have suffered from drug dependence or personality disorder. However, it was never confirmed as she escaped the facility before she could be diagnosed.

According to the senator, he decided to vote against the avid environmentalist because of her “authoritarian tendencies” and unwillingness to conform to the legal process.

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Sunday claimed that the statement of United Nations Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard that war on drugs "does not work", is "high-handed" and "arbitrary" given that there is an absence of an official investigation.

Lacson in an interview with Radio DZBB sad that an investigation on cases like this is crucial.

“Sa akin, wala pa naman silang investigation; bakit may conclusion na siya ‘di tama ang ginawa ng Republika ng Pilipinas? Parang sa akin naman, medyo high-handed naman ‘yan. Pangalawa, sinasabi niya officially invited daw siya, na-inform daw ang gobyerno natin, e sabi ng Malacañang hindi."

Lacson said he would rather believe what the Philippine government is claiming.

“Sino mas papaniwalaan natin? Mas papaniwalaan ko ang ating gobyerno kesa sa taong dumating na lang dito at nagsasalita na may conclusion agad even in the absence of a formal investigation."

Callamard in a forum at the University of the Philippines on Friday said that any war on drugs launched by a country is bound to fail and will only make the problem worse.

“Badly thought out, ill-conceived drug policies can foster a regime of impunity infecting the whole justice sector and reaching into whole societies, invigorating the rule of violence rather than of law; eroding public trust in public institutions; breeding fear and leading people to despair,” Callamard said, citing research by global experts.

The UN official's recent visit to the country caught the Malacanang Palace off guard, as she did not go through official channels.

The rapporteur denied the allegation, saying she was able to inform the government of her visit, and claimed that she did not come for an investigation but to participate in an academic forum.

Lacson further criticized Callamard, calling her statement as something that is "unbecoming" of her.

“’Yan ang sinasabi ko, masyadong arbitrary at unilateral ang kanyang conclusion kasi wala namang nangyayaring official investigation na ginagawa, bakit siya may conclusion agad. Sa akin, unbecoming ‘yan. Ikaw ang UN rapporteur tapos gagawa ka ng conclusion in the absence of any formal investigation, that’s unbecoming,” he said.

Former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Rafael Alunan in his Facebook page explained how President Rodrigo Duterte’s critic, United Nations Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard is connected with billionaire George Soros who is said to have influence on Smartmatic.

Callamard has been pushing for a UN investigation on Duterte’s war against drugs. The French Rapporteur was appointed to specialize on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.

Callamard, as Alunan explained is the former executive director of ARTICLE 19, the international human rights organisation promoting and defending freedom of expression and access to information globally.

Article 19 is a British human rights organization with a specific mandate and focus on the defense and promotion of freedom of expression and freedom of information worldwide founded in 1987.

Article 19’s work is organised into five Regional Programmes—Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East—and a Law Program. It has over 100 staff and regional offices in Bangladesh, Brazil, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, Senegal, and Tunisia. It works in partnership with nearly 100 organizations in more than 60 countries around the world.

Among its financial contributors is Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros who has been reported to partly own Smartmatic, a company that manufactures voting machines.

Smartmatic is owned by Lord Mark Malloch-Brown. He is connected to Soros through the Open Society Foundation, an organization that gives grants to civil society organizations around the world.

Smartmatic claimed that Soros is not connected to them but Alunan questioned this.

“Eh, ano? Hawak nya naman ang may-ari ng Smartmatic na ginamit pangdaya sa ating mga eleksyon noong 2010, 2013 at 2016. Sino ang nakapwesto sa panahon na yon? The difference is the same,” he said.

“The connected dots now show who the regime change conspirators are, here and abroad. Don't forget the drug syndicates linked to them and assorted narcopoliticians,” he added.

Smartmatic machines were utilized in the Philippine elections on May.

Allegations of electoral cheating and machine manipulation also circled the country and Vice Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos filed a case against now Vice President Leni Robredo.
