Senator Antonio Trillanes IV seems not affected by the netizens who mocked him after they watched his interview with BBC’s HARDtalk host Stephen Sackur.

Last week, the video of Trillanes being interviewed by Stephen Sackur has gone viral on the internet after the netizens saw that the international journalist made the interview difficult for the Filipino senator.

Trillanes said that being interviewed in the most difficult talkshow for any guest was one of the proudest moments of his life.

“It is what it is. People who watched the full interview (not the spliced one) are entitled to their own opinions. The haters will hate; the believers will believe,” Trillanes said in a statement.

“Personally, knowing the impact of the interview to the global audience and knowing now that ‘Hardtalk’ is very popular yet the most difficult talkshow for any guest, I can honestly say that it is one of the proudest moments in my public life,” he added.

Sackur made the interview difficult to Trillanes after he said that the senator’s comment seemed “out of tune” and “inharmonious” with the beliefs of the ordinary Filipinos since President Duterte still remain popular in the Philippines despite of tremendous amount of accusations and criticisms that he received from the opposition.

But Trillanes said that President Rodrigo Duterte’s alleged propaganda machine controlled the minds of the Filipino people and they said that “they don’t really get to know the magnitude of the damage Duterte has done,”

Sackur also pointed out that Duterte still enjoying high approval rate despite of the controversies.

Trillanes responded and he said that Sackur cited the old rating of President Rodrigo Duterte and he believes that the Filipino leader’s popularity would shrink because more and more Filipinos were already informed by the damage done by the President.

Sackur interrupted Trillanes and said that if Western politicians got a 75 percent approval rating, it would be the happiest day of their life.
