The video documentary featured a hitwoman by the name "Maria" who admitted to having murdered six men as per orders of a policeman she considered as her "boss".
This was Maria's statement, "My husband was offered a job by a big-time policeman while he was still in jail. He immediately said yes. A lot of people owe this man money. He's also a big-time drug dealer. One time when they needed a woman for someone a man could not get close to, my husband tapped me for the job."
Reyes said that the fault of BBC's news article was linking this policeman to President Rodrigo Duterte and making it appear that the killings were state-sanctioned.
"She and her drug dealer boss are NOT the govt and they were never sanctioned by the govt to kill. In fact, they (the drug syndicates) are the enemy of this govt," she said.
Reyes even said that the victims were murdered by people in the drug trade too.
"The published news report by BBC and several others about "Maria" and about EJK are grossly misleading. So #NoThanksToBBC and other news agencies for such! You suck big time!" MJ said.
MJ however said that the unedited version of the documentary was objective, but criticized the BBC news story which edited the statements of Maria.
The news report released on August of last year assumed that the EJKs were the government's initiative.
"Since President Duterte was elected, and urged citizens and police to kill drug dealers who resisted arrest, Maria has killed five more people, shooting them all in the head," it read.
The story and documentary gathered worldwide attention and was scathing to the image of the President, albeit the BBC news article contradicts the BBC video documentary.
