The lady politician urged the UP students to oofer an alternative to the govenrment’s war on drugs like decriminalizing the possession of illegal drugs.
Sen. Sotto is not amenable to the proposed decriminalization of illegal drug use in the country.
“Legalize drugs? Tell that to d families victimized by addicts/pushers. Mga user lang makakaisip nyan,” Sotto tweeted.
Vice President Leni Robredo reportedly floated allowing drug use as alternative to killing drug addicts.
Robredo said the government should look into the best practices of some countries such as Portugal that treated the drug problem as a health issue and strengthened laws on drug rehabilitation.
