“We assured them that we,are not against the President and that we are for the success of the President,” the Manila Bulletin,quoted Archbishop Villegas as saying during his meeting with some Cabinet members,of the Duterte Administration.
The archbishop said they are not,against President Duterte as a person nor attacking the Office of the President, but rather against some government policies,and legislation that they believe would not be of help to the Filipino people.
“What we are against are issues, it is,not the person, it is not the Office of the President that we are attacking so to speak,” Villegas explained.
He cited the killings amid the government’s,intensified war on drugs as one of the issues they are concerned with.
He said they are 100 percent against the,proliferation of illegal drugs and the government’s campaign against it, but said they are concerned with the approach,the government is using to address the problem.
