President Rodrigo Duterte clarified that he would not declare Martial Law if there’s no sufficient reason to do that.
During his speech in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Mr. Duterte explained that he would only declare martial law if he needed to preserve his country.
“Kung sabihin lang ninyo na peace and order, tama ang military. There is no compelling reason[to declare Martial Law]” President Rodrigo Duterte said during his speech.
He also denied the accusations that he will declare martial law to extend his term as President of the Philippines.
President Duterte said that he will became silent about it if he really plans to suspend the writ of habeas corpus.
“I will not declare martial law pero kung magdedeclare ako, hindi ako mag-iingay” Duterte said.
